We enjoyed stunning views on the one hand ... and tragic tales on the other ...
Diamonds mark the trail but the beetle infestation has wrecked havoc in the woods.

Twisted trees tell their tragic tale.

Horned toad greets us on lichen-covered boulders.

The Rim Vista Trail has many awesome overlooks.

Now Chuck and Craig, don’t step backward.

It’s still springtime on the Mogollon Rim.

Lone pine stands sentinel over the valley.
Hikers still enjoyed beautiful weather and camaraderie on this easy hike.
Club webmaster was kept busy – is he adjusting camera or GPS?
Hike leader took advantage of downed trees for a little ride ’em cowgirl.

We’ve made it the junction, but let everyone catch up.

There isn’t a log around that can throw Debbie!

If only a banana would pick up GPS signals ...

With the temperatures quickly increasing in the valley, Rim Vista promises
to be one of the last cool hikes until summer’s end.
The trail follows along the Mogollon Rim, from the Rim Top Trailhead,
joining up with the Military Sinkhole Trailhead, then finishing on the
Rim Vista Trail.

Highway 260 is the road back.

A diamond, but where’s the trail?

Aw, you mean we have to go back to civilization?
When the club hiked this trail in the fall of 2007, parts of the
trail were under water, but today there is no sign of water.
The hike was completed in less than three hours, allowing for a
leisurely lunch stop in Payson.
