We met at the trailhead on 67th Ave/Patrick Ln. at 6:00 AM. Of several trailheads in the Tbird area, this is at the west end. Today our group of 9 hikers included 4 AZ Trailblazers.

We hiked north from the trailhead then southeast up, down several times on nice trails. This area has every trail surface you’d expect in Phoenix, smooth and groomed, sometimes rocky and hilly. There are several summits with enough elevation to provide nice views in all directions. One of the best views is the development called Arrowhead Lakes. It’s a beautifully designed planned community with a waterway which winds around providing many residents with waterfront property.

We hiked around to the east side of this hilly range, passing the amphitheater and then heading west to the trailhead.

On future Thursday hikes, we will explore more of the Thunderbird area from different trailheads. Today’s hike was the gentlest one. There are two higher peaks to conquer and we’ll put each on the schedule this summer. Higher peaks mean better views.
