Chavez Historical Trail Day Hike
when Trip Report : October 8, 2016
where Sedona
the hike     Hike along the Chaves Historical Trail from the Stoneman Lake turnoff on I-17 going 9 miles south-west mostly downhill to highway AZ 179.
The intent is not to hike in the heat of the day. The hike requires vehicles to be dropped off at the end point at intersection of AZ 179 and FR 9204S, with the remaining vehicles taking hikers to the Stoneman Lake turnoff 15 minutes away. Once the hike is completed, we will return to the Stoneman Lake turnoff.
I have hiked both ends of the trail. The trail is marked by tall wire cage cairns. Some of the trail is a noticeable path, while other parts are undistinguishable.
