Dixie Mine Day Hike

where Fountain Hills
the hike     We will start walking on paved road to the trailhead This trail winds through scenic desert with short ups and downs approx. 2 miles to the Dixie Mine. There are some nice Petroglyphs to see near here. Depending upon the group we can return to the TH by the same route or continue up the wash to a boulder area, a nice place for a snack break before heading back. There are also some tailings we can explore if interested.
    From the Golden Eagle Trailhead at the end of Golden Eagle Blvd., follow the marked sidewalk and signs to the entrance to McDowell Mountain Regional Park ($3.00 cash fee required). Follow the Dixie Mine Trail.

meet Car pool 6:30 AM, at North Mt. Visitor Center or meets us at 8:00 AM at Golden Eagle Trailhead.

•  From the Golden Eagle Trailhead at the end of Golden Eagle Blvd, follow the marked sidewalk and signs to the entrance to McDowell Mountain Regional Park ($3.00 cash fee required).
Follow the Dixie Mine Trail to a road.
Turn right and go down a short hill.
At the bottom of the hill, turn left on an unmarked trail that will take you a short way to the Dixie Mine.
Return the way you came.
