Phoenix South Mountain Park
January 16, 2000

Length: 12 miles/6 hours (at a good clip)
No of participants: 9
Activities done on hike: day hike with car shuttle, getting very tired
|
The National Trail passes through layered rock formations.
General Comments:
Long hard hike with great views of the Phoenix area – is a good hike
for those in shape for it ... is not a good hike for those that are not.
I was very tired after this hike and I hike pretty much every weekend
(I was also coming down with the flu by the end of the hike – so
that may have contributed to my feeling more tired than usual for that
type of hike).
Problems / concerns:
- People showing up in tennis shoes instead of hiking boots
- not enough water and food
- thinking it was a 2 hour hike instead of 6 hours.
