Six Arches Hike, Superstition Mtns
Jan 10, 2026
5 miles, 1100 feet
Leaders: Robert & Lin
Our hike started at the old corral on hwy 88, just before the scenic overlook before Canyon Lake. The loop took us through several
canyons, around the Horns, and back to the corral. This hike was almost entirely off-trail, the only exception being a short stretch at
the beginning and end. The only route we had was a rough map. Lin and I led this this mostly by memory from six weeks earlier.

This was the steepest climb of the hike. [photo by Lin]

The hike started on the cool side, with just a bit of ice on the shallow puddles.

After considerable searching, we found this upside-down heart shaped arch. [photo by Lin]

We expected to run into scratchy brush, but accidentally missed the worst patch. We did not find all of the original six arches,
but found a few others we missed the first time. We will definitely do this hike again, and have a route saved on Alltrails and Gaia.
