Ten Trailblazers escaped the heat to enjoy the cool forest of the Houston Brothers
Trail.
We passed by the old Pinchot Cabin at the beginning of the hike as
we headed up Houston Draw.
The cool pines were a welcome respite from the heat of the Valley.
The trail follows a small creek with several springs along the way.

Butterflies and blossoms brighten our trail.

How many Trailblazers does it take to open the gate?
|
We stopped at Aspen Springs, about 1½ miles, where there
is an old Homestead with just the remains of the Chimney and an old shed and
corral.
This is a very popular place for campers doing the Cabin Loop trails.
We continued up the draw passing beautiful green meadows and wildflowers.

Here’s the fireplace. We must be home.
|
We stopped for lunch in the pines at 3.2 miles and enjoyed the cool shade.
We returned the way we came.
It was getting a little warmer but there was
the occasional breeze to cool us off.
