The Trailblazers are tops!
Collared Lizard
A friendly Collared Lizard joined us on the trail.
They say the third time’s a charm, so after three attempts we finally did the Blackett’s Ridge hike.

The first time we were rained out The second time was too close to the holidays. But the third time, a baker’s dozen (13) showed up for the hike!
Sabino Canyon parking spaces were at a premium and we had four cars. One of us was told to park in the employee parking lot and the rest had to circle the parking lot looking for someone pulling out but we all finally managed to convene at the gift shop by 9:45 AM. re-group
Hikers stop to re-group along the way.
water
Cool, Clear, Water.
The forecast was for a high of 83 but the thermometer on my fanny pack registered 93. And it felt all of 93° as we started climbing up the hill. As we got closer to the top where it was more open, we could feel a refreshing breeze.
flower flower
The glory of spring in the Catalinas!   We were fortunate to be there in time to enjoy nature’s finery.
With the altitude also came the poppies and other flowers in bloom. At the lower altitude the flowers were already starting their decline.

We made it to the top and had a nice leisurely lunch while enjoying the view. I think most of us would have preferred the cooler temps of a month ago but it was still another beautiful day in sunny Arizona!
Jenni
Jenni has time for a nap before the rest of the group catches up.

We could have stayed the day, but it’s time to start down.
