The Praying Hands are a favorite of rock climbers.

Knowing that the nice hiking weather will be ending soon for another season, eleven Trailblazers took advantage of an ideal morning to enjoy a quick hike in the Superstitions. Starting at the Crosscut Trailhead, we picked up Jacob’s Crosscut Trail and were pleasantly surprised at the lush green of the desert. We passed through an area densely populated with cholla cactus, with a magnificent view of the Superstitions.

Two weeks ago the mountains were dusted with snow; today we had nothing but sunshine.

Turning onto Treasure Loop, we completed the climb up to the Green Boulder and stopped in the cool shade for a quick snack. Continuing down Prospector’s View, we picked up the Crosscut Trail and headed back the way we came.

Welcome to the Hitching Post!
hikers
Debbie, Olga, Beth, and the bandit.

After the hike, those who had time voted to check out the Hitching Post for lunch.

Tucked away next to the Dash Inn, the saloon was filled with interesting memorabilia, good food, and the promise of a lively night life for another time perhaps.
