The Chasm Lake trail (by Romona) is a challenging but rewarding high alpine hike in the RMNP.
The trail features dramatic mountain scenery, waterfalls and Chasm Lake at the foot of Long's Peak.

what a beautiful morning.

The trail starts at the Long's Peak trailhead and passes through the forest and several waterfalls.
After about 3.4 miles you will reach "Chasm Junction " where the trail splits. Directing you to Chasm Lake. We did have one
member who accidentally opted for more elevation.
From here the trail continues with spectacular high alpine terrain. There was evidence of meticulous trail maintenance along
this route.

Almost to the Chasm Lake.

Kudos to the teams with pick axes and physical strength. There were also beautiful privies closer to the top along with
hitching posts.
The final descent requires some scrambling; at 11,800 feet this may require a breather.
The view and the hike is awe-inspiring.
