We had a beautiful day and enjoyable hike. Most of us met at McDonald's and carpooled to the trailhead. 4 people went to the trailhead at the north end of the route instead of the one at the southern end of the route, so we started the hike with 19 people, but eventually met up with the rest of them near the top of Yavapai Point.
The inlet where the floating bridge is out had a little bit more water in it from recent rains, but the detour didn't take long at all. We had a snack break at the top, where there is a bench and some rocks that flat enough to sit on.
Highlights were seeing a momma and baby burro, and the great views of the lake. We took the shortcut trail on the way up, but got in an extra mile on the way back by bypassing the shortcut. That decision paid off with more lake views and a 2nd sighting of the mom and baby burro, who had moved from their previous spot to the area near our hike's extension route.
Afterwards, a few of us sat at the picnic tables for a little bit, to snack and enjoy the lake views one more time. We saw a low flying helicopter, it looked like it may have hovered right above the water. But when it ducked behind a hill we couldn't tell what was going on.
