We met at North Mountain Visitor Center on 7th street at 4:30. Originally there were supposed to be four hikers, but at the last minute two of the hikers cancelled. We waited for the hikers for 15 minutes, so ended up leaving the visitor center around 4:45 with just two hikers.

Leaving a little later was actually to our benefit because it was a warm day. The temperature was 83 degrees, so it was not too comfortable starting out. As we started out there were few hikers headed up. We also noticed the beautiful yellow wildflowers everywhere.

Looking back on the empty trail.

I hike this trail quite often and it usually is very busy at this time, but today it was very quiet. It might have been because of the heat. Around 5:30 we noticed activity on the trail started to pick up.

Even though there were just two of us it was a very nice hike. We were able to chat and get to know each other better. We made it back to the visitor center as it was getting dark.

We both enjoyed the hike and loved visiting with each other.
