Arizona Trailblazers Hiking Club
Crucifix Canyon Day Hike

when? Saturday, November 6, 2010
where? Tonto National Forest, Desert Area
the hike You may have seen it from the Dolly Steamboat dinner cruise. The crucifix is a natural formation in the rocks they say, but in any case the canyon is spectacular. We’ll get there cross-country from the Horse Mesa Dam road, visit the canyon, then climb out and walk to Mesquite Flat on a primitive road. Come prepared for bushwhacking, steep, rocky slopes (gloves recommended), prickly Sonoran vegetation, and desert mountain scenery that will curl your camera.
