the hike |
This is the best South Mountain trail for petroglyph views,
and has a great mixture of scenery and grade.
It’s a great hike for exercise, since the first portion of the
trail is relatively flat, and steadily climbs uphill but isn’t
all that steep. The view along the trail is nice.
We can see the city of Phoenix and surroundings at Dobbins Lookout

drive | From Phoenix downtown, take Central Ave. south until you enter South Mountain Park. Just past the first guard gate, turn left toward the South Mountain Educational Center, and proceed east a quarter mile to the marked Trailhead. |
