the kayak     This will be the second Arizona Trailblazers kayaking trip to Bartlett Lake. We will start near the Bartlett Flats Camping Area (see map) and launch our kayaks off the beach. From there we’ll start paddling northwest into the lower part of the Verde River and beyond, keeping close to the shoreline.
Time permitting, we may start paddling south to the Yellow Cliffs area as well. We’ll plan on pulling in to shore from time to time as people get tired of paddling and plan on stopping at a shady shore area for a lunch break around 11:30 or so.
Please be advised that we may have to postpone this trip due to unfavorable weather conditions, especially high winds on the lake.

Turn right on E. Cave Creek Road and continue driving for about 4 miles to Bartlett Dam Road (FR 19).
Turn right on Bartlett Dam Road and continue driving east for 12.5 miles to a T-junction with North Lake Road.
At the junction make a left turn onto N. Lake Road (FR 459).
Drive NE on North Lake Road for 4 miles to a second T-junction.
Make a left turn at this junction and drive for another half-mile to the end of the paved road at the Bartlett Flats Camping Area.
From here we’ll drive Northwest in the dirt along the lake shore for a minimum of ¼ mile beyond the camping area. ¼ mile beyond the camping area we can park right next to the lake and launch our kayaks from here. The beach is shallow gravel and ideal for launching a kayak. This is also the only area around the lake where we can park and kayak without purchasing a Tonto Pass.
