Wolf Creek & Horsecamp Day Hike

where Prescott, AZ
the hike     Ah, more waterfalls (I hope).
This easy exploratory hike follows not one loop trail but two: the Wolf Creek and the Horsecamp. The main attraction is on the Wolf Creek trail, namely Wolf Creek Falls, a 90-foot high spectacle of water flowing over granite cliffs. Especially, of course, if monsoon rains have been pounding the area.
But that’s not all! The wooded route also includes streams, swimming holes, breathtaking views of the nearby moutains, and a historic mining site!.
The Wolf Creek Loop is only 5.5 miles so about half way through we’ll sidestep over to the Horsecamp Loop to pick up an additional 2.5 miles. However, if the weather becomes intemperate we can skip that. This also provides an opportunity anyone who wants a shorter hike.
A description and trail map of the Wolf Creek Loop is available on-line.
