This is a continuation of my desire to do as much of the Arizona Trail as
I can on a day hike basis. From FR 418 to FR 417 does not sound very far,
but it is 13.2 miles, mostly downhill. I have not done this hike before, so
it is exploratory along the well-marked Arizona Trail.
We will do a car shuttle to make it a one way hike.
Drive at least one car to the north end (FR 417), leave it, and return to
FR 418 which is reached by turning off US 180 on FR 151 near MP 235.
Bring a lunch, it will be a long day.
For those that want to and can, you are invited to drive to Munds Park on Friday and stay at David French’s place. We can do a short hike on Friday if you want to. If interested, email and I will provide additional information. Due to the length of the hike and the car shuttle, the hike is limited to 16 hikers. Required: • Sturdy hiking boots • At least 3 liters of water • Rain poncho • Hat, sunblock, sunglasses • Lunch or snacks Recommended: • Hiking poles • Camera |
