Twenty Trailblazers assembled outside Sedona at the lightly used Scorpion/PyramidÂ
Trailhead and walked together to a nearby Old Post Trailhead to start the hike.
We climbed, and were treated to nice views of the surrounding red rocks with very
few other folks on the trails.

At the midway point, we crossed the Upper Red Rocks Loop road and rested a bit
under a large tree at the high school. Somewhat refreshed in the rising heat, we
embarked on the relatively new Scorpion Trail.

About halfway through this trail, we split into two groups. Half of us continued on
the Scorpion back to the cars, while the other half explored the slightly steeper
Pyramid Trail, also leading to the cars.

We finished our 6 miles. The temperature was in the 80s. Many of us continued on
to Cottonwood, avoiding the Sedona crowds, and had a nice lunch at Plaza Bonita
before heading for home.
