O’Grady Canyon Day Hike

where Superstition Mountains
the hike     To visit this scenic canyon we’ll follow First Water Creek upstream, climb waterfalls, continue cross country to the canyon, and return by way of O’Grady Canyon and Parker Pass. Come prepared for wet cobblestones, boulder scrambling (gloves recommended), bushwhacking through prickly vegetation, charismatic rock formations, and the Superstition Mountains’ majesty!
    This hike is described by Jack Carlson and Elizabeth Stewart in Hiker’s Guide to the Superstition Wilderness, Clear Creek Publishing, Tempe, AZ, 1995, pages 159-161.

weather Apache Junction
meet 8:00 AM at Red Mountain Park located at 7745 E. Brown Rd. in Mesa (south side of Brown Road just east of Power Road).
drive •  Go northeast on the Apache Trail Highway (Arizona 88) past Goldfield Ghost Town and Lost Dutchman State Park, to First Water Road.
•  Turn right on First Water Road and drive to the end.
