where Superstition Wilderness
the hike     Picture postcard scenery abounds on this gentle trail walk through saguaro forest from Broadway Trailhead to Crosscut Trailhead. We’ll cross Monument Canyon and numerous washes along the way, and swing by Lost Dutchman State Park.
This hike is described on pages 209-210 of Roger and Ethel Freeman’s Day Hikes and Trail Rides in and around Phoenix (Gem Guides Book Company, 2000).
No auto shuttle: two parties will start from opposite directions and meet in the middle for lunch and exchange of car keys. All hikers will meet at Red Mountain Park, organize car-pooling, and exchange cars. One group will drive to Broadway Trailhead and start hiking northbound. The other will drive to Crosscut Trailhead and start hiking southbound. Halfway through the hike the groups will meet on the trail, exchange car keys, and continue to their destination. Your own car will be waiting for you at the end of your one-way hike. Bring a spare car key.
