| the hike |
Coffee Flat Mountain in the Superstition Wilderness is neither flat nor
caffeinated. It is there to be climbed by human beans. After following
the Dutchman’s Trail to climb the west bend of this great lump
of stone, we’ll grind our way down to the valley and return on
the Coffee Flat Trail, which is mostly flat, anyway. Perks include
stimulating views of Weaver’s Needle, Bluff Spring Mountain,
Picacho Butte, Miner’s Needle, and Cathedral Rocks.
This hike is described in
Footloose from Phoenix by Ted Tenny, pages 167-177.
