where	Phoenix Mountain Preserve
the hike	From the parking, we will go through the tunnel underneath 51 Freeway (Piestewa).     After a short walk parallel to the freeway, join trail 1A, which will take us up into the preserve. We’ll follow the Pearl Charles Trail.     This will be the main trail, along with sections of the VOAZ and the 302 we will traverse, returning by way of the 1A.     In this area there are lots of ups and downs and plenty of scenic view spots with benches for a quick rest. The trails can be steep and rocky.     Points of interest include an old stone house perched on a hill with some history to discover, some ancient petroglyphs, and a very special place to sit and enjoy our snacks and chats before heading back to the trailhead.
