| the hike |
This is a loop hike going up on Holbert which takes us to the upper areas
of South Mountain, across on National, and down on Kiwanis and connecting
to Las Lomitas which will take us back to our cars.
Along the way we will get great views and neat rock formations, traveling
under the TV towers down to Telegraph and crossing over to Kiwanis, which
goes through a canyon with two rock wall dams built by the Civilian
Conservation Corp in the 1930s to prevent erosion.

8:00 AM at South Mountain Central Avenue Park Entrance, 10919 S. Central Ave.

Drive south on Central Ave. past Baseline road and Dobbins Road. |

Continue on Central, it curves to the right (west) and becomes the park road. |

Just past the main entrance gate, take the first left, follow that road down,
passing the education center, located at the east end of the Activity Complex
and the trailhead will be on your right.
