Bartlett Lake Kayaking

where Bartlett Lake
the kayak     We’ll meet at the SB Cove area

(see map) and launch our kayaks off the beach. From there we’ll start paddling north on the lake to Rattlesnake Cove, Bartlett Flat, and beyond toward the Verde River arm of the lake, keeping close to the shoreline.
    We’ll plan on pulling in to shore from time to time as people get tired of paddling and plan on stopping at a shady shore area for a lunch break around 11:30 or so.
    Please be advised that we may have to postpone this trip due to unfavorable weather conditions, especially high winds on the lake.
Required:
•  Life Vest
•  At least 1 liter of water
•  Rain poncho
•  Hat, sunblock, sunglasses
Recommended:
•  Lunch or snacks
•  Camera

time 3-4 hours, with rest breaks, a lunch stop, and photo ops.

cost You will need a Tonto Pass to park in the SB Cove parking lot of Bartlett Lake.
Be sure to display your pass on a hang tag or place it on your dashboard.

The club also allows voluntary contributions of $5 per non-member.

drive
From the north valley
•  Take SR 51 north to 101 east.
Continue eastbound on the 101 for 6 miles to N Pima Road.
From the east valley
•  Take 101 northbound and exit at N. Pima Road.
From both areas
Drive north on N. Pima Road for about 12 miles to E. Cave Creek Road.
Continue on E. Cave Creek Road for about 4 miles to Bartlett Dam Road.
Continue heading east on Bartlett Dam Road for 12.8 miles to a T junction.
At the junction make a left turn onto N. Lake Road (FR 459).
Drive NE on North Lake Road for 4 miles to SB Cove.
At SB Cove, drive onto the large dirt/gravel area near the lake and continue driving until you see the concrete launch ramp. Park next to the ramp and leave your pass in plain view. The beach here is shallow gravel and ideal for launching a kayak.
Restrooms are located nearby.
