Talon Trail Day Hike

where Usery Mountain Regional Park
the hike     Talon is a BRAND NEW TRAIL, opened in November 2022. In and Out hike beginning at TH at Visitor Center. We do a short segment of Lost Sheep, turn on Chainfruit until it reaches the Talon TH. Talon travels N crossing road and continuing Left of the wash past Campground C&D to meet up and overlap the Pass Mountain Trail for a bit. Then Talon turns Left at a Y while Pass continues its circumference path. Talon travels NW towards Tonto National Forest and Usery Pass Rd. The gate to Tonto National Forest is where we will turn around. Soon after the turn around we’ll stop for a snack and then finish up our return trip
NOTE: Talon is not yet included on the park’s printed maps
Required:
• Sturdy hiking boots
• At least 2 liters of water
• Rain poncho
• Hat, sunblock, sunglasses

Begin hike at 9am
Drive
From AZ-101 Loop South and Pima Rd: Travel South on the 101 to AZ-202 Loop East.
AZ-202 Loop East 15 miles to Exit 24 for E McKellips Rd.
Keep Left and continue on E McKellips Rd until you can turn Left on to N Ellsworth Rd (N Usery Pass Rd).
2.2 m to Right turn into E Usery Park Rd. Turn Right into Visitor Center parking and park there for TH which is to R of building.
Restrooms and water are available.
