| the hike |
Prominent features of the Goldfield Mountains seem to occur in
pairs. Golden Hill 2726, easily mistaken for its illustrious
neighbor Hat Top Hill, stands proudly in the arch country south
of peak 3089. Joint Ted for this exploratory off-trail adventure
as we try climbing it on the eastern approach. Come
prepared for steep, rocky slopes (gloves recommended), arches,
prickly vegetation, and the spectacular scenery of the southern
Goldfields.
We’ll return on the friendly Orohai Trail.
This hike is described in
Footloose from Phoenix,
by Ted Tenny, pages 76-84.
