| the hike |
With enough winter rain, we’ll see a flourish of wildflowers on this
six-trail hike through the rolling foothills of the southern Goldfields.
Interesting rock formations, with awesome views of the Superstitions,
Goldfields, all around.
Then you have a choice. When you get back to the Pass Mountain Trail, you can turn right and walk back to Meridian Trailhead with me (total of 5 miles). Or you can turn left and complete the loop around Pass Mountain (total of 10.25 miles) before returning to the trailhead. Those who choose the same option should ride together, since we will be returning to Meridian Trailhead at different times. Trails in Usery Mountain Park are described on pages 178-189 of Day Hikes and Trail Rides in and Around Phoenix, (2nd. ed.) by Roger and Ethel Freeman, with a map on page 277. |
