| the hike |
Join me for a beautiful sunset hike at Usery Mountain Regional Park.
Situated on the border of a mountain region, the park offers views of
the Goldfields and the Superstitions to the east, the McDowells to
the northwest, and Usery Mountain immediately northwest.
We will begin hiking at the horse staging area on the NoSo Trail,
then loop back on the Blevins Trail.
If timing is right (and sky is clear!), we should see the sun setting
to the west and a full moon coming up on the opposite side. The Blevins Trail is described on pages 187-188 of Freeman, Roger and Ethel, Day Hikes and Trail Rides in and Around Phoenix (2nd. ed.), Gem Guides, Upland, CA, 2000. |
