This hike follows the Arizona Trail passage 29 north from Gooseberry Trailhead toward
Mormon Lake with interpretive signs along the way about the logging industry in
Northern Arizona. We will hike 7.6 miles north along the remains of the old logging
railroad to the Navajo Springs trail junction and then follow Nava Springs trail for 1.1
miles to Mormon Lake Lodge. We will stop for a snack/ lunch along the way.
There will be a car shuttle. |

Gooseberry Trailhead is reach by taking I-17 north to exit 339 for Lake Mary Road and
proceeding right/south for 32.0 miles to FR 92 where you turn left and proceed 0.4
miles to the trailhead parking. The trailhead can also be reached by taking exit 306 off I-17 at Stoneman Lake Road and following Stoneman Lake Road to Lake Mary Road and turn left/north. Procced for 2.4 miles until you turn right on FR 92 and proceed 0.4 miles to the trailhead parking. There will be a car left at Mormon Lake lodge to shuttle people back to pick up cars at Gooseberry Trailhead after the hike. |
