Sabino Canyon
|
We left the parking lot at Ray & 48 on time with a pleasant drive to Sabino
Canyon with 12 hikers. We all met at the Visitor’s Center and took the Tram at
10:00 to the trail’s end and started our hike at 10:30.
The trail begins with steep switch backs for about a mile you can view the city and lower Sabino Canyon, then levels off along the top of the ridge where you can see Sabino Creek far below. There are a few uphill, rocky spots, but the trail is a gradual easy climb and you begin along the side of the ridge down to Sabino Basin. The remainder of the hike to Hutch’s Pool is fairly level and an easy trek. |

Beautiful scenery with a sky so blue it almost hurt your eyes. Stopped at a
shaded spot and sat on large boulders to have our lunch and take in the
breathtaking views looking at the Mexican blue oak and Arizona sycamore.
Arrived at Hutch’s Pool around 1:30. Some dangled their feet in the
ice cold water for a few minutes, what a refreshing pause. Along the way the
saw lizards, toads, and a variety of birds. Scott King managed to spot a deer
on our Tram ride back to the Visitor’s Center.
