Picketpost

Seven Arizona Trailblazers start out for Picketpost Mountain.

On the way, we are passed by the Tucson Hiking Club – 18 in number!

We make it to the top and all convene around the mailbox.

The mailbox was originally in Lynden, Washington where it was run over by a John Deere tractor.

Then in 1994 it was nearly destroyed by a 1978 white Chev driven by a drunken Guatemalan.

It was repaired and moved to the top of Picketpost Mountain where “it was believed to be relatively safe.”

After a nice long lunch, we begin the trip down the mountainside taking extra care on the slickrock.

When we climbed up the mountain, we were actually in the clouds and misted upon. But the rest of the afternoon turned into a beautiful, sunshiny day.
