attendees: Michael Humphrey, Eileen Root, Sheila Grant, Ted Tenny
- National Park Service
There’s an on-line study on correcting health and safety hazards in
abandoned mines.
We’re in favor of it — abandoned mines are unsafe.
-
Projector
With $1400 in the bank, the club can afford to buy a projector and also
pay the insurance when it comes due later this year.
Michael will look for the best deal.
The projector must be compatible with both Macintosh and Windows computers,
and a reputable brand with a good reputation for reliability.
-
Insurance Policy
The papers were given to club secretary Ted Tenny.
-
Backup Webmaster
The club should have a backup.
Ted will help find a club member who knows HTML and is willing to serve.
Methods are documented on-line:

Discussion
| • |
Hike Leader Training:
Scheduled for the
Idaho Pass
hike on February 13.
Chuck and Ted will be sharing information on leading hikes.
Any club member who has led hikes is encouraged to volunteer to assist
with this training. Please contact Chuck or Ted if interested. |
| • |
Book Cover Survey:
Chuck presented four sample covers for the
book he and several club members are working on.
People were asked to vote which illustrated cover and title they liked best.
Votes were confidential. |
| • |
Events for 2010:
Michael asked for ideas for events/hikes and possible
speakers for the upcoming year. Debbie will ask Kay Lyons to prepare a
presentation for the March meeting of a possible trip to NM to do some
trailblazing. Ranger B. of Usery Mountain Park is a potential speaker.
A presentation on proper food during hikes or backpacking was suggested.
Please email Michael any other ideas. |
| • |
Lucille’s BBQ:
General opinion about the new meeting location was positive.
People said the food and facility were both good.
The restaurant is a bit hard to find: better directions needed after
getting into Tempe Marketplace shopping center.
Lunch menu prices/no cost beverages were appreciated but there was some confusion
on some guests’ bills.
Michael needs to make reservations for upcoming meetings.
