Sunrise-McKinsey Day Hike

where McDowell Mountains
the hike     We meet at the Ringtail Trailhead, leave some cars and carpool to the Sunrise Trailhead. The ascent to the Sunrise Peak with 1,100 foot elevation change within 2 miles provides good exercise through sustained ups and downs. Sunrise Peak is one of the few Preserve peaks with a trail to the top, from which we gave expansive views of our favorite hiking grounds including Four Peaks and the Superstitions. From there we go down to the Hitching Post and hike the Andrew Kinsey Trail to the Preserve Boundaries. Going back the same way from the Hitching Post we take the Sunrise Trail down to the Ringtail Trailhead, and return the drivers to the cars that were left at the Sunrise Trailhead.
