the hike |
Starting from the Pipeline Canyon Day Use Area and Trailhead (#4 on the
park map) we’ll cross the floating bridge (not sure if it will be
floating due to low water levels). About 1.4 miles along the trail
we’ll take a spur to the newly built Yavapai Point trail and climb
0.9 miles to a gorgeous vantage point.
From up here we’ll have a truly beautiful view of Lake Pleasant
and surrounding mountains. It is a bit of a climb, but worth the effort.
Then we’ll come back down and continue on the Yavapai Point trail
to the Cottonwood Day use and Trailhead.
At this point we can decide if we want to extend the hike to 8.1 miles
by taking the Cottonwood Trail (this will add 2.4 miles), or just have
a snack and return.
Required: • Sturdy hiking boots • At least 3 liters of water • Rain poncho • Hat, sunblock, sunglasses Recommended: • Lunch or snacks • Camera |
