where Sunflower
the hike     Unlike the Grand Canyon we go UP hill first then return down. It is about 15 miles round trip and about 3800 feet. We hike an old road. Start at about 3300 ft and hike to the towers at 7100 feet. No off trail. This is a pretty hike and good for conditioning.
    It is a little late in season, so bring electrolytes and extra water to stash. Trim your toenails!
    I remember the past two years it being very windy on top. Come prepared for a change in temperature from the trailhead. This late in the season there may be snow or ice at the top.

meet 7:00 am in the parking lot of the Target Center on the south side of Shea Blvd., about a mile west of Highway 87 (Beeline). For those leaving their cars behind, please park up against the north curb away from Target. or 7:50 AM at Slate Creek Trailhead.
