We will be cross-country skiing the 5.8 km (3.6 mile) beginner / intermediate
Abineau trail. If you are new to cross country skiing then this is your chance
to learn how. I will be giving a short lesson in cross country skiing for about
30 minutes. We will not be doing any downhill skiing. You should dress in
layers. As you get going you will start to burn calories like crazy and get
pretty warm. Dress like it’s going to be below zero. Gloves, hats and
clothing layers that are easy to remove or put back on. A small bottle of water
and maybe some chocolate is also suggested.
Suggested sporting goods stores to rent skis from are: Aspen Sports 15 N. San Francisco St. Flagstaff, Arizona 86001 (928) 779-1935 $10/day, $100 deposit, credit cards OK / no debit cards. Peace Surplus 14 W. Route 66 Flagstaff, Arizona 86001-5541 (928) 779-4521 $10/day, $200 deposit with credit card. Note: The Nordic Center has ski rentals however last time we had to wait an hour or two before enough equipment was returned to equip our group. Be sure to reserve your equipment at least one week in advance!! |

$15 Nordic Center trail fee plus approximately $15 to $20 equipment rental.
Each person is responsible for renting their own equipment.
It is strongly suggested you stop in Flagstaff for equipment as last time the
Nordic center was out of equipment and we had to wait an hour or two.
Be sure to reserve your equipment at least one week in advance.
Also riders should share the cost of gas. The club will allow voluntary contributions of $5/non-member. |

| meet | 7:00 AM 1/2 block west of the Denny’s at Bell Rd and I-17 near the M&I bank parking lot. We leave promptly at 7:20 AM. We will try and arrange our car pools by what ski rental stores we will be going to in Flagstaff. NOTE: Vehicles used should be long enough to fit all of the rented equipment for the passengers. |
