Minutes - 2013

Executive Council, December 5, 2013

attendees: Jim Buyens, Chuck Parsons, Wendy Rennert, Monika Moreland, Ted Tenny
  1. Executive Transition
AI [Monika] → Complete the details of Treasurer transition with Becky.

  2. Award program
All the information we need to give awards to hike leaders, Ted already has. To give awards to hikers we’ll need to know who went on which hikes. The leaders can easily send a list of participants to Monika, who has offered to do the record keeping.

  3. Follow-up for first-time hikers and fallen-away hikers
The same information used for giving awards to hikers can serve this purpose. An email message from the President might be appropriate.

  4. Location of general meetings
Coco’s is O.K. We prefer a place that is big enough, free, quiet, with reasonable food prices and amenities. If somebody finds such a place, the officers will meet there first before scheduling a general meeting.

  5. Treasurer’s reports
More detail, such as income and outgo, would be appreciated.

  6. Second club pack
With multiple hikes on the same day and more Saturday-Sunday hikes, a second club backpack would make it possible for both leaders to have everything they need. We’ll need signup sheets, clipboard, first aid kit, radios, batteries, and contact information for the Treasurer.
AI [Wendy] → Buy another pair of radios, plus batteries, first aid kit.
AI [Ted] → Choose a suitable bag and donate it to the club.

  7. Personal locator beacon
This was discussed by the Executive Council on June 4 and July 17, 2012.

  8. Web site appearance
:) Jim is taking over the Trailblazers’ Facebook page.
Our web site is unique, popular, and continually being improved. Ted periodically conducts reader surveys to find out what most appeals to folks who visit our site.

  9. Promoting the club
Our most recent appearances were at a health fair at Freescale and a presentation at the VA Hospital. AZHC posters can be left on bulletin boards at places like REI.

  10. Hike Leader Training
Should be on an easy hike, close by. GPS can be added to the outline. Wendy has an idea for a hike in Dreamy Draw that includes training.
AI [Ted] → Send information about last year’s Hike Leader Training.
